Dan Crawford, Creative Director

Building brands isn’t rocket science, but rather a passionate collision of skills, ideas, personalities and trust. I aim to work with companies that understand designs power, and importance. My ultimate goal is to use design to solve complex business problems, inspire people and make beautiful things.

My professional journey encompasses roles in small design studios to prominent international branding agencies, where I've worn hats as a designer, art director, creative director, and photographer. In addition to agency experience, I have extensive experience in-house, overseeing the development and management of design teams and art departments.

Presently, I serve as the Creative Director at Red Antler, a leading brand and design agency in New York. In this role, I lead a team of creatives, inspiring innovative and impactful solutions that redefine categories and enhance people's lives. My responsibilities extend to daily operational management, fostering a positive team environment, and ensuring the high quality of creative output. As a hands-on leader, I directly supervise designers, providing support, coaching, and mentorship for their professional growth.

Originally from Australia, I've traded the sunburnt landscapes for the concrete jungle. Beyond work I pursue photography, seeking to capture images that resonate with me and others. I swap my Levis for lycra on long-distance bike rides and at home it’s usually Youtube shows on cabin renovations and architecture.

The work shown on my site includes personal and professional projects. All professional projects were created in collaboration with a range of talented designers, writers, strategists, animators and industrial designers.

The outdoorsy world of hiking boots and mountain peaks can be intimidating. As an app built and curated by the community, AllTrails helps people plan, live, and share their next outdoor adventure — whether that’s a hike up a mountain or a stroll around the neighborhood. A key focus of the brand evolution was to entice and encourage everyone to get outdoors. We evolved the brand identity to feel more energizing, emphasizing the product's performance and capabilities through welcoming and relatable stories. Completed at Red Antler, NY.

Following our brand work, AllTrails achieved remarkable recognition, winning the Apple iPhone App of the Year Award for 2023 and earning a feature in The New York Times

Cover is the first invisible security force field designed to protect schools from gun threats. Powered by a cutting-edge weapon detection system developed in collaboration with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, it uses safe, non-ionizing waves—similar to airport security scanners—but operates with greater range and unmatched precision. We crafted a brand that highlights the technology’s authority and effectiveness, serving both as a trusted business solution and a powerful deterrent. This project was completed at Red Antler, NY.
